I realized that something I always shy away from in all of my art and that has really limited me as an artist is sketching because I have never made an effort at it. So, I decided no matter how small a picture, how quick it is, or how bad it is I am going to do 365 drawings this year, starting Dec 14, 2011. Let's see if my skills improve.

Sketch 14, Day 15 - Teddy Bear
I didn't quite make the 7 sketches last week but I'm almost on track. I'll give myself a little leniency since it's the holidays.

Sketch 12, Day 12
This is a wish box my mom got for me for Christmas. It has a really great metal piece in front shaped like a woman's face, attached by strands of yarn with beads.
Sketch 11, Day 12
This one looks like a cake but it is actually a prayer wheel at my mom's house. You put your prayers on a piece of paper inside and spin it and then the prayers go out.

Sketch 8, Day 9 - Creepy Devil
This is a creepy devil doll that I have on my desk at work. I started it and had to erase the whole thing because the proportions were so off. The head is a little gigantic still but it's better than it was before.

Sketch 7, Day 7 - Flying Woman Grounded
This would NOT save horizontally so I'm stuck with a sideways view. This is the flying woman who is above my bed reminding me to dive into life everyday. First week accomplished!!

Sketch 4, Day 4 - Buddha
Lighting-wise this kind of turned out great. I didn't mean for it to seem so papyrus, but I'll take it. He's flanked by bills underneath him, by the way. Had to keep it real. He's a statue that lives by my front door.

Sketch 3, Day 2 - Harper
Yeah, turns out he's going to show up a lot. I hate this one but that's what this is all about, right?

Sketch 2, Day 1 - Hope
This is the sketch for a project I'm hoping to do in collage. I'll post the final project when I'm done.
Sketch 1, Day 1 - Harper
I chose my cat because he switches positions so often, I knew I would need to sketch quickly and not think about it too much. I was lucky to get this much before he moved again.
